It's the end of a few hot and humid weeks in Vermont! To celebrate, we have Chestnut Darn Pretty™ needles! Sheep cases! Sheep pouches!
It's hot here. They say tomorrow is going to feel like 101 degrees! What's even hotter? Cinnamon Stripe Darn Pretty™ Needles and Pear cases!
Cinnamon Stripe is a color we made into double points when we first started making needles. I believe there was just one run of interchangeable needles made from this color, way back at the start of the interchangeable needles.
Well, Tom found a panel of Cinnamon Stripe. This is Dymondwood®, the original product from Rutland Plywood in Vermont. These are truly collectible needles! Tom has made 3.5, 4, and 5 inch sets. They are lace, but he has not tipped everything as of this writing, so if you want regular tips, let us know when you order.
Sets are at the continued discounted rate of $300 and include a Pear case, three cables, and four logo stops!
Once these are gone, they are gone for good!
We have new stops! The same wonderful people that have made our gauge are making stops! These fit our normal size cables for Northern Light™ and Darn Pretty™ needles. They are crafted from acrylic with a layered DC logo!
We also have a new batch of 4 inch black nickel Northern Light™ needles in, and Tom has carved a batch of beautiful Peacock™ crochet hooks too!
We're about to send out a new newsletter - read up on these and more! Happy 4th of July!
We have our very own needle gauge! Crafted for us in the US from clear acrylic, the gauge includes all our needle sizes, from the Heavy Metal™ sock sizes on up. And it includes US 6.5/4.25 mm!
These, new cases, and more are all listed on the site today! Happy (almost) Summer Solstice!
We have a new color in our Darn Pretty™ needles! Kaleidoscope - a mix of red, pink, yellow, blue, green, and charcoal! Presently we have them in 4 and 5 inch length sets. These are gorgeous!
Also, Heavy Metal™ needles have been restocked!
We have restocked 5 inch Black Nickel Northern Light™ needles! Our very best needles, these are solid aluminum needles, with a perfect point between lace and regular. Stitches just flow from these needles! You'll find them on our site on the Northern Light™ Black Nickel page.
Tom is feeling much better and is back at the wood shop working on a new color. Hopefully we will have that up this weekend/beginning of next week. And he is finishing up the expanded Spring Forest set for the Chester Andover Family Center raffle. Details on the raffle will be coming soon!
Lots of changes this week. Smaller set requirements, fewer places we can ship to, more lengths in Northern Light™ needles! All of it is in our newsletter.
Our newsletter this week features Darn Pretty™ needles in Sunrise Stripe and Rosewood Swirl. Amazing needles. Tom has worked for months to improve his methods. It has paid off in the finest work he has ever done. Really. The needles are amazing.
We are also featuring four women and their businesses that we would love for you to experience. Kim Kaslow of The Woolen Rabbit. Amy Ross Manko of The Ross Farm. Jill Duarte of HipStrings. Scarlet Tang of Huckleberry Knits.
Let's see. We have more Black Nickel in. And we are taking 20% off! More Heavy Metal™ needles. Some incredible emerald green Darn Pretty™ sets, as well as individual pairs of Darn Pretty™ needles - also 20% off! We have free shipping and we are willing to hold orders. Woot!
And we have friends. This week's newsletter has loads of links to dyers, makers, and merchants - all independent small business persons who are taking huge hits right now, between show cancellations and shelter in place/essential businesses only orders. We encourage you to spend some time with this issue and get to know some of these amazing people and their work!

In honor of the holiday, Tom has made some beautiful lace point interchangeable knitting needle sets in all three lengths consisting of Spring Forest, Green, and Charcoal Darn Pretty™ needles. These are beautiful sets! Each one comes with a case, three cables, and four stops made by Linda. Everything is made here in our Vermont studios. We are offering these for $300, a $50 savings!
We have a new batch of 5 inch Sugar Maple Northern Light™ needles in stock. A very few have some white near the screw, most are perfect. We would normally not sell these as seconds, but in light of the times, we have these on sale for $25 a pair!
From our newsletter:
But there's more! We want you to save on needles, but also shipping. Right now we are offering free first class shipping in the US, free first class international with insurance to Canada on orders over $50, and free first class international with insurance world wide on orders over $75. (Please see note at bottom from USPS) It's a bit of savings that we hope you can pass on to the many vendors, designers, and teachers who have lost so much! So many of our friends and colleagues are hurting right now. They are reliant on shows for income, and shows are canceled for the spring and possibly longer.
Visit the vendor/exhibitor pages of the shows you had planned on attending and brighten the day of a few independent artists. We all Iive with little to nothing for a safety net. It's a trade off we make in order to do the work we love. But it makes for stressful days and nights in times like these.
One of my favorite of these is The Ross Farm. Having recently lost her husband, Amy runs the fiber end of the farm herself, featuring some amazing wools from some amazing sheep. Her son, Drew, runs the meat end of the business and is presently working to feed the community!
And then there is Shannon Okey. Shannon has the energy and creativity of a dozen people! Shannon created and runs the Cleveland (Ohio) Bazaar, which relies on people gathering and shopping, and Cooperative Press, publishing a multitude of pattern books. Like Amy, Shannon relies on shows to reach her customers for a significant portion of her income, so after you have purchased some needles from us and some amazing yarn from Amy, pop over to Cooperative Press and pick up some wonderful new pattern books!
There are so many more people we could recommend. We love them all and hope we all get through this. One thing is for certain - we can only get through this together!
Thank you. Be safe, be well, and stay home and knit!
