I love to quilt. I think I said that in the previous post. What I do not love is maneuvering a hot steam iron over freshly sewn seams, and finger pressing just isn't enough to flatten fabrics down properly, particularly when I am piecing small strips. I asked Tom to make me a wood iron, and he has obliged! He made up one for me (which I love) and another half dozen for you! These are all approx. 6.5 inches long, and turned from Persimmon! We've added a Quilting category to the shop page where we will list finished quilts and quilting tools (I'm bugging him for a good seam ripper!)

Wood Iron for quilting/sewing
Linda asked for a nice wood iron for pressing seams, and Tom answered! A wood iron is used to open up seams - it works much better than finger pressing seams open, and as a precursor to using the steam iron, makes for much cleaner, better seams! (And keeps that hot steam from the steam iron away from your fingers!)
This group is crafted from Persimmon. Each on is hand turned and polished to a silky smooth finish. Approx. 6.5 inches long.

Those that follow me personally on Facebook and/or Instagram know that quilting is my passion. I have just completed a quilt I'm proud to offer. I set out to find red fabrics for a beta fish quilt, and I came upon a collection of fabrics from Giucy Giuce that had such an incredible palette, it was meant to be. The fabrics defined the fish! It seemed only proper to name this piece Giuseppe.
I loved every moment of the making of Giuseppe. He's entirely constructed and quilted on a domestic sewing machine from all cottons, with a wool batting to highlight the stitches. The threads are a brand known as Glide - they should really be called Glisten, as they do glisten! I matched each of the thread colors front and back.
I took Giuseppe outside today to take some glamour shots - this quilt is for sale. Please contact me via email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or phone (802-374-0080) to inquire. The quilt measures 58 inches tall by 40 inches wide and comes with a hanging sleeve.
To be honest, I forgot this portion of our site existed until a customer made an inquiry last week! I will endeavor to make use of this space once again!
This week, we have a number of 4 and 5 inch Darn Pretty™ sets on the site, a new batch of Silver Northern Light™ Needles, and a new batch of Northern Light™ needles in Black that we are calling seconds, as a number of them have silver spots near the screw end. Otherwise, they are gorgeous.
