We are closed until February 21, 2017, for the funeral of Linda's mother. Thank you to all who have sent condolences! We appreciate your kindness and understanding at this time.
Happy New Year!
It's been a while since we have sent out a newsletter. 2016 was . . . interesting. And it's gone, sent to the history department. We have a new year to look forward to and a lot we have been working on here.
In May, we moved our website to a new platform that gave us more flexibility and functionality. We can now track inventory on site, which has allowed us to spend this past season offering up our "seconds" in the Northern Light™ series, clear out a bevy of wood needles we have found (there are more of those to come!), and move to an on-hand means of selling. If it is on the site and you can place an order for it, it means we have the items in stock and ready to go!
It is Giving Tuesday. All sales today - 100 % - will be donated to our local food shelf, the Chester-Andover Family Center. Whether you need a cable or two or a full set of needles, all of the monies spent today will be given to CAFC to help local families in need.
After encountering technical glitches recently, we have some cleaning up to do on orders from past offerings. To that end, we are going to continue to offer Turnings on Sunday evenings and give ourselves a little wiggle room in the process by shipping by the end of each week. Orders placed on Sunday evenings will be entered on Monday and Tuesday and shipped by the end of the week. Thank you!
We have taken the nickel plated needles/hooks and sets down for the time being. Tom is focusing on the wood sets that need to be completed and the nickel require more time and involvement from him. If you are interested in these, don't hesitate to email us at email@example.com to see where we stand. Thank you!
I have been off line in terms of emails this week - lots of driving around New England to get needles to various finishers. We had issues with the last run of blues. We have given the anodizing company more to get us caught up and then some. Once we have an estimated date for pick up, we will notify those folks who are waiting.
Ditto on Black Nickel. We have delivered enough needles and hooks - and then some - to the plating company. Their turn around time is quick and we expect to pick those up this coming week.
Last but not least, tonight we put up Vermont Rosewood tips in the turnings section. These are old join tips. And . . . there are only two VR sets left to be built and both of those are pulled together and ready to finish!
To those buying tips from the Turnings and Seconds listings each week: Our shopping cart is over selling. Too many people are hitting it at the same time. Granted, it is a good problem to have and one we thank you for, but it is still a problem.
The cart provider is working on a solution but does not have one as yet. Last week was particularly bad and Tom went ahead and made up needles for those orders where we were short. He cannot do that each week, however. The point of these listings is to find new homes for product on our shelves, not create work for Tom. His focus has to remain on the existing orders. Going forward, should we run short on one of the listings in Turnings or Seconds, we will refund instead of make new. We hope you understand.
There are 2 orders left from June, and 29 left from July that are still waiting on Rose, Violet or Blue Northern Light needles. I just spoke to the anodizing company and we should be able to pick these up the first of the week. We do apologize, particularly to the June folks, for the delay.
Midnight Northern Light™ needles ordered end of June and into July will be shipping tomorrow. We have had a run of heat/high humidity and a lame sewing machine - the sewing machine has been fixed, the cases are completed, and the humidity is breaking tonight!
We have put up a batch of needles that are nickel plated - on the original Northern Light™ base. These are turned from solid aluminum, including the screw end. It's all one piece. Some of these have more machine marks than we like, so we have offered them at just $20 per pair! You can find them on our Seconds page.
