5 inch Silver Northern Light™ interchangeable knitting needles
We took Tom’s famous taper and reproduced that beautiful convex curve in aluminum. We further refined the Northern Light™ needles by adding stainless steel threading for strength and a finer finish.
Northern Light™ Anodized Interchangeable Knitting Needles are turned in New England from solid aluminum. The transition from shaft to taper is seamless. Whereas most needles have a concave taper, our tapers are convex curves which allow the yarn to flow effortlessly from needle to needle. Each needle is polished by hand before and after anodizing. The end result is a needle that is smooth, but not slick, affording the knitter greater control, warms to the touch and stays warm while you knit, reducing hand fatigue!
Northern Light™ anodized needles can tip (the very points turn silver) depending on your knitting style. This does not affect the performance of the needles. It merely serves as a visual demonstration of how much you love using them!
Needle tips are sold in pairs. Cables are sold separately.
Want a full set? Mix and match any 8 pairs of tips (excluding Seconds) and we will include the case, three coated wire cables and four stops!
Spring Green: Bright and happy!
Orange: Really orange. Orange, orange, orange!

A few. pairs remain in the larger sizes of the following:
Bordeaux A darker shade than our Sugar Maple, Bordeaux is a rich, warm red - just like a good glass of wine!
Silver The classic!
Sky Blue The color of a clear Vermont sky! It's a clearer shade of blue than the previous Robin's Egg Blues we have had. The difference is subtle.

Coated Wire Cables
Strong, supple, and sized just right for our stainless steel connectors! The wire coated cables use the same connector as our formerclear cables and will fit our Darn Pretty™, Northern Light™ and Black Nickel needles and crochet hooks.
Cables are measured by the length between connectors. To calculate using a tip to tip measurement, deduct the total tip length (including connectors) from the total length you want your cable:
Two 3.5 inch needle tips (and the connectors) total approx. 8 inches - for a 16 inch needle tip to tip, 16-8=8. A 24 inch needle tip to tip would be 24-8=16.
Two 5 inch needle tips (and the connectors) total approx. 11 inches - for a 32 inch needle tip to tip, 32-11=21. For a 40 inch tip to tip needle, 40-11=29.
NOTE - if you are a tight knitter, consider putting a smaller tip on the left side, and a larger tip - the size needed to make gauge - on the right. Knitting will flow much more smoothly this way!

Custom Coated Wire Cables
Custom lengths are available in our coated wire cables up to 60 inches (if you need longer, please contact us.) The length you state will be the distance between the two connectors. Add approximately 8 inches for 3.5 inch tips and 11 for 5 inch tips to determine tip to tip length.
