Our Story

Tom Diak is an award winning wood turner who draws from his experiences as a musician, museum exhibit designer and trained massage therapist in the design of his fiber tools. He understands the need for integrating beauty, function and comfort into his work. Tom’s hooks and needles have received multiple awards and have been the commemorative hooks and needles for the Crochet Guild of America, New York Crochet Guild, and the Smithsonian Institute.

Formerly an exhibition designer, preparator for Art in Public Places, and owner of an art handling service, Tom served as one of the models for Duane Hanson’s “Lunch Break.” Tom was awarded the key to the city of Ft Lauderdale for his work on The Boat Show exhibition.

Linda Diak is an award winning artist whose current work in art quilts can be found on her site, www.lindadiakquilts.com A weaver for decades, Linda began spinning when our sons were young. This led to searches for the perfect spindle, the best spinning fibers, and Grafton Fibers was born.

We began our business in 2001 as Grafton Fibers. Tom turned hand spindles while Linda carded spinning fibers. In 2003 the sheep arrived, as did our crochet hooks, the Harmony™ loom, and our famous Darn Pretty™ needles! In 2009 we became DyakCraft.
